Movies...Movies...Movies....

This is where I like to talk about the movies that I watch.  One of my favorite pastimes is watching movies at the theaters. There is something about settling back in a dark theater with some yummy popcorn and a cold Diet Coke and watching the big screen. I get to escape for 2 hours and get a glimpse into a different world.

"The Words"
Pretty good movie. Really interesting story line. Kind of 2-3 story lines and time lines intertwined.  My biggest complaint would be that I wasn't quite sure what was going on and when it ended, I was a bit confused as to what had just happened. But I sat and talked with Amy and we now think we have it figured out :)  Jeremy Irons was great!!  Bradley Cooper is never bad to look at for a few hours but not his strongest performance.

"Hope Springs"
In a nutshell.....not as I expected.  Sometimes previews are just a bit misleading (shocking, I know!). It made it look like a comedy but in all actuality it was quite serious. It dealt with a married couple who had grown apart and when the kids leave, just get stuck in a rut. Their marriage is basically a room mate agreement (complete with separate bedrooms).  It is dealing with this situation that the movie is about.  Didn't love it...  There were some scenes that (frankly) were kind of like watching your parents make out. A bit uncomfortable.
Frankly, not one that I would recommend.

"ParaNorman"
Seeing as this movie is PG, I took Gracie to see it without previewing it. Luckily, she handled it pretty well. It was a bit darker than I had anticipated from the previews and had a fairly heavy theme (bullying and judging).  That being said, We really enjoyed it. It had some humor for the adults and the animation was great. Do be aware that it might scare some kiddos, so you might want to see it first.
I would recommend :)

"The Odd Life of Timothy Green"
Jeff, Gracie and I went to see this movie and all three of us loved it!  I do believe that at least 2 of us (Jeff, I'm looking at you) were in need of some Kleenex. It probably hit a nerve with us due to the fact that it starts out with a couple facing infertility issues. That is an issue that is very close to my heart.  The story was just a sweet, whimsical almost fairy tale. The boy who plays Timothy was adorable and so endearing.  It had a great message and was just a fun family movie.
One of my favorite lines:
As they are sending Timothy to his first day of school...
(Dad) "Have a good day!"
(Mom) "I think that's too much pressure on him"
(Dad) "Have the day you have!"
I might just start saying that to people :)
I would definitely recommend!

"The Bourne Legacy"
I was  a bit skeptical about how they were going to pull off a "Bourne" movie without Matt Damon, who did such a fabulous job with that character. But I do believe that they did it. I will say that it would have helped if I had watched the last "Bourne" movie again before I went to this movie. I may not have been as confused at the beginning,  as it just jumps in without much back story. But, that being said, I think it segued nicely into a new character. Jeremy Renner was intense and did a great job. There was a lot of action but still a good story line and a direct opening for a sequel.
I would recommend :)

"Total Recall"
Ok, Ok....this was a total guilty pleasure. But come on! Who didn't love the Arnold Schwarzenegger version????? That was basically why I went to see the re-make. I wanted to see what they could do to update this "classic".  I was pleasantly surprised. While Collin Ferrell  is no Arnold, he is a bit easier on the eyes :)  There is no Mars but a post-apocalyptic earth. Other than that....the same :)  Of course, what was once an "R" rated movie is now "PG-13" (and basically the same content) so just beware of that
I would recommend...only if you are a fan of the original.
